  • 2 pints cherry or grape tomatoes
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh basil

Preheat a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until the oil begins to emit a strong, acrid smell.

Introduce sliced tomatoes into the scorching hot oil; sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Cook, gently tossing the pan back and forth, until the tomatoes become tender and their outer layers start to pucker, approximately 2 minutes.
