- 2 1 1/2-inch-thick New York strip steaks, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
- 1/4 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 cups white rice
- 4 cups water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup canned sliced bamboo shoots, drained
- 1/2 cup canned sliced mushrooms, drained
- 1/4 cup chopped green onion
- 1/2 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1/4 cup sugar snap peas
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/2 (10 fluid ounce) bottle oyster sauce
- 1/4 cup chopped green onion

Place the steak in a bowl and cover it with minced onion, garlic, and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. Make sure the steak is evenly coated with the ingredients

Next, bring the rice and 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan over high heat. Gradually decrease the heat to medium-low and let it simmer until the rice is tender, and all the liquid has been absorbed, taking around 20 to 25 minutes

In a separate pan, heat some vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the bamboo shoots, mushrooms, 1/4 cup of chopped green onion, green bell pepper, red pepper flakes, and 3 tablespoons of soy sauce to the hot oil. Stir constantly until the green bell pepper is slightly tender, which should take around 4 to 5 minutes. Add the steak, broccoli, and sugar snap peas to the pan; cook until the beef is browned and no longer pink in the center, about 10 minutes

In another bowl, whisk together cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of water until the cornstarch is fully dissolved. Heat some oyster sauce in a saucepan over medium-low heat and slowly stir in the cornstarch mixture until it thickens, taking around 3 to 5 minutes. Stir this oyster sauce mixture into the steak mixture and sprinkle with 1/4 cup of chopped green onions. Cook for a few more minutes until the sauce is thickened, approximately 7 to 8 minutes. Serve the steak mixture over rice
