Fresh Pumpkin Puree
Ingredients
  • 1 sugar pumpkin
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a medium-high temperature of 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees Celsius).
2
Cut the pumpkin into two equal halves, starting from the top and working your way down to the base. Carefully remove the seeds and stringy pulp from each half.
3
Cover each pumpkin half with aluminum foil, ensuring it is securely wrapped to prevent any steam from escaping during cooking.
4
Place the covered pumpkin halves in the preheated oven, with the foil side facing upwards. Continue baking until the pumpkin is tender and easily pierced with a fork, approximately 1 hour.
5
Once cooked, carefully remove the pumpkin flesh from its shell halves and transfer it to a blender or food processor.
6
Blend the pumpkin flesh until smooth, taking care not to over-process and create a pulp-like consistency.
7
Strain the pureed pumpkin through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove any remaining stringy pieces.
8
Use the pureed pumpkin immediately, or store it in freezer-safe bags for future use.
