Add sugar, garlic salt, and vinegar to the tomato mixture; stir until they are fully incorporated. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then lower the heat to a moderate level and let it gently simmer for approximately 1 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

Transfer the tomato mixture into a clean blender or food processor, leaving no more than half of its capacity empty. Secure the lid and press down firmly on it; pulse a few times before leaving it to blend until extremely smooth. Repeat this process with any remaining tomato mixture.
