Fresh Fruit Tart
Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups white sugar, divided
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries, or more to taste
  • 1/2 cup sliced fresh strawberries, or more to taste
  • 1/2 cup sliced banana, or more to taste
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a medium-hot temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or equivalently, 175 degrees Celsius).
2
To create the cookie crust foundation: Mix together flour, a pinch of cream of tartar, baking soda, and a small amount of salt in a moderately-sized bowl and set it aside for the time being. Combine butter and three-quarters of a cup of sugar in a large mixing vessel until you achieve a smooth consistency. Introduce an egg into the mixture and blend it thoroughly.
3
Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture until just combined, taking care not to overmix.
4
Press the dough into an ungreased pizza pan shape and bake in the preheated oven until it reaches a light brown hue, approximately 8 to 10 minutes. Allow it to cool down.
5
To prepare the filling: Whip cream cheese with the remaining half-cup of sugar and a hint of vanilla in a large mixing bowl until it reaches a light and airy texture. Spread the filling evenly over the top of the cooled cookie crust.
6
Arrange a selection of blueberries, strawberries, and banana slices on top of the filling in an attractive pattern. Refrigerate to chill.
