Ingredients
- 1 large baking potato
- 1 1/2 pounds ground pork
- 1 large onion, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 pinch ground allspice
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 (14.1 ounce) package double-crust pie pastry, thawed
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika, or to taste
Instructions
1
Collect all necessary components.
2
Preheat the cooking device to 450 degrees Fahrenheit (230 degrees Celsius).
3
Pierce several times a potato with a fork and position it on a baking sheet.
4
Bake in the preheated cooking device until it can be easily pierced with a fork, 50 minutes to 1 hour. Allow it to cool for 10 minutes, then separate the skin from the flesh and mash the remaining material. Turn off the cooking device.
5
Combine mashed potato with ground pork, onion, water, pepper, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice in a large skillet. Bring the mixture to a boil, then decrease the heat and simmer until it reaches a thick consistency, at least 1 hour.
6
Preheat the cooking device to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
7
Cover a deep-dish pie plate with one piece of pastry. Fill the pastry-lined container with pork and potato mixture.
8
Cover the filling with remaining pastry. Brush the top layer of pastry with beaten egg and sprinkle with paprika. Create a steam vent in the pastry.
9
Bake in the preheated cooking device for 50 minutes. If the edges brown too quickly, cover them with a strip of foil to prevent over-browning. Serve warm
