Ingredients
- 2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
- 3 cups milk
- 1 cup butter
- 10 eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon orange extract
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 10 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter, cubed
- 2/3 cup white sugar
Instructions
1
Start by combining yeast and warm water in a small bowl, allowing it to become frothy and smooth after about 10 minutes. Next, warm the milk in a small saucepan until it reaches a boiling point and starts to bubble, then take it off the heat. Combine 1 cup of butter with the warm milk mixture until fully incorporated, and let it cool to a comfortable temperature.
2
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until well combined. Add a pinch of nutmeg, some orange extract, and a few drops of vanilla extract to the mixture. Then, incorporate the yeast mixture into the egg mixture, followed by 3 cups of flour and a sprinkle of salt. Gradually add in 1/3 of the milk mixture, then mix in the remaining flour and milk mixture in two separate additions. Cover the bowl with a clean cloth, and let the dough rise until it has doubled in size, approximately 45 minutes later.
3
To prepare the topping, combine 1/2 cup of butter and 2/3 cups of sugar in a small bowl, using a pastry blender or your fingers to create a mixture that resembles coarse crumbs.
4
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease three 10-inch Bundt pans with a small amount of oil or cooking spray. Divide the dough evenly among the prepared pans, and sprinkle each pan with a layer of the topping mixture.
5
Place the Bundt pans in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of each pan comes out clean.
