Filipino Marinated Beef Steak
Ingredients
  • 4 pounds New York strip steak, sliced thin
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
Instructions
1
Combine the sliced beef in a large bowl and marinate it with a mixture of lemon juice, soy sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper that has been whisked together in a separate bowl. Make sure the beef is well-coated with the marinade and then stir in some cornstarch to help it thicken. Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or even overnight if possible.
2
Heat a significant amount of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat, allowing it to reach the optimal temperature.
3
Remove the beef slices from the marinade and gently shake off any excess liquid that may have accumulated. Discard the used marinade.
4
Fry the beef slices in batches, using the hot oil to cook them until they start to firm up and turn a reddish-pink color, while remaining juicy in the center. This should take around 2 to 4 minutes per side. Transfer the cooked beef slices to a serving platter.
5
In a small skillet, heat some olive oil over medium heat and cook the onion and garlic until they turn golden brown. This should take around 5 to 7 minutes, stirring constantly. Spoon the cooked onion and garlic mixture over the beef slices on the serving platter.
