  • 1 (16 ounce) package frozen cut green beans
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 4 ounces crumbled feta cheese, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Begin by placing the bacon in a large, deep skillet and cook over medium-high heat until it is evenly browned but still slightly tender to the touch. Reserve a small amount of the grease from the skillet for later use, as it will add flavor to the dish. Remove the cooked bacon from the skillet and crumble it into small pieces, setting aside 2 tablespoons for garnish.

Next, prepare the frozen green beans by submerging them in water in a covered, microwavable dish. Cook the green beans for approximately 3 minutes, or until they have thawed but are still slightly firm to the touch. Remove the green beans from the water, pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture, and set them aside.

Now, reheat the skillet over medium-high heat with the reserved bacon grease still in it. Add the cooked bacon and minced garlic to the skillet, stirring constantly until the garlic is lightly golden in color. Add the prepared green beans and crumbled feta cheese to the skillet, seasoning with onion powder and black pepper. Continue cooking and stirring until most of the feta cheese has melted, approximately 2 minutes.

Transfer the green bean mixture to a serving dish and top it with the remaining feta cheese and crumbled bacon. Serve the dish hot, garnished with additional crumbled bacon if desired.
