Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).

Prepare the baking surface by lining a 12-cup muffin pan with paper cup liners. This will help the cupcakes release easily once they're baked.

Create a mixture of dry ingredients by combining flour, baking powder, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.

In another large bowl, use an electric mixer to blend together 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons of sugar, butter, and vanilla extract until they're fully incorporated.
