Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced lengthwise
- 1 cup chopped carrots
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 2/3 head cabbage, diced and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons water, or as needed
Instructions

Preheat a cooking vessel over an intermediate heat setting.

Melt oil in the pot and sauté the onion until it becomes pale and slightly softened, approximately 5 minutes.

Introduce the carrots, garlic, turmeric, salt, and black pepper into the pot, stirring constantly to allow the flavors to meld together.

Continue cooking and stirring until all the ingredients have harmonized, roughly 7 minutes.

Add the cabbage to the pot and blend it with the other ingredients.

Cover the cooking vessel, decrease the heat to a lower medium setting, and cook until the cabbage is tender but still retains some firmness, about 20 minutes.

Add water if the vegetables appear parched during the cooking process.
