Egyptian Milk Pudding

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla sugar
  • 4 teaspoons cornstarch, or more as needed
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or to taste

Combine the milk, cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and cornstarch in a saucepan. Whisk the ingredients together until they are fully incorporated and smooth.

Gradually heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Continue cooking for 10-15 minutes or until the pudding thickens and coats the back of a spoon. At this point, it should have reached the desired consistency.

Remove the saucepan from the heat source and let it cool slightly before transferring the pudding mixture to individual serving dishes.

Allow the pudding to cool completely at room temperature, which should take around 30 minutes. Once cooled, cover the bowls with plastic wrap and refrigerate them for an additional hour to chill completely.

To serve, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon over the top of each chilled pudding dessert.
