Egg and Bacon Puff Pastry Squares
Ingredients
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 3 slices thin-sliced bacon
  • 4 large eggs
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh chives
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or equivalently 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, take a moment to prepare the muffin cups by applying a thin layer of butter to each cup, leaving sufficient space between them for even cooking.
3
Cut a sheet of puff pastry into four equal squares, then carefully place each square into the greased muffin cups so that its corners dangle over the edges.
4
Using a small amount of Dijon mustard, gently brush both the bottom and sides of the pastry to create a delicate crust.
5
Cut each slice of bacon into four equal pieces, and then carefully arrange three strips around the edges of the muffin cups.
6
Crack an egg into a small, shallow dish and carefully pour it into the muffin cups, taking care not to break the delicate egg yolks.
7
Place your muffin cups in the preheated oven and bake until the puff pastry is lightly golden brown and the eggs are fully cooked, taking approximately 22 to 27 minutes.
8
Remove your muffin cups from the oven and season with a pinch of salt and pepper to bring out their full flavor. Finally, sprinkle a few chopped chives on top for added freshness and texture.
