Slow Cooker Corned Beef and Sauerkraut
Ingredients
  • 1 (3 pound) corned beef brisket
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 (32 ounce) package sauerkraut
  • 3/4 cup beef broth
  • 3 tablespoons brown mustard
Instructions
1
Remove any excess fat from the corned beef and position it in a slow cooker that is large enough to accommodate the brisket, allowing it to lie almost flat at the bottom of the container.
2
Place a layer of sliced onion on top of the corned beef.
3
Drain the liquid from the sauerkraut and create a layer on top of the onion.
4
Combine the broth and mustard in a bowl, stirring until well mixed, then pour this mixture over all the ingredients in the slow cooker.
5
Cook the corned beef on low for 7 to 9 hours, or until it reaches a tender state. To check the tenderness, insert an instant-read thermometer into the center of the brisket and verify that it reaches a temperature of 160 degrees F (71 degrees C).
