Begin by submerging pinto beans in a substantial container and covering them with an adequate amount of water; allow the mixture to soak for at least 8 hours and up to 24 hours. Subsequently, drain the water from the bowl and rinse the beans before proceeding with the recipe.

Next, combine the soaked pinto beans, chopped onion, minced garlic, and sliced jalapeno peppers in a slow cooker. Ensure that the water level is sufficient to cover all the ingredients with several inches of liquid. Cook the mixture on a medium-low heat setting for 4 to 6 hours.
