  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed and finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • 6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  • 2 cups prepared marinara sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1 (8 ounce) package shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 1 (5 ounce) package garlic croutons

First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 175 degrees Celsius).

Next, take a 9x13-inch casserole dish and give the bottom a generous coating of olive oil. Sprinkle some minced garlic and red pepper flakes over the oil for added flavor.

Now, place the chicken breasts at the bottom of the dish in a single layer.

Pour a generous amount of marinara sauce over the chicken, making sure they're fully coated.

Sprinkle some chopped fresh basil leaves over the marinara sauce for a burst of flavor, followed by half of the mozzarella cheese and half of the Parmesan cheese. Add some crunchy croutons on top as well.

Finish off the dish by sprinkling the remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese over the top, followed by a layer of croutons.

Finally, place the dish in your preheated oven and bake until the cheese is golden brown and the chicken is cooked through, about 35 minutes to an hour depending on the size and thickness of your chicken breasts. Use a food thermometer to check that the internal temperature reaches at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit (or 70 degrees Celsius).
