Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 onions, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons fresh ginger root, finely chopped
- 6 whole cloves
- 2 (2 inch) sticks cinnamon, crushed
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- salt
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 2 (15 ounce) cans garbanzo beans
- 1 cup chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions
1
Preheat a large skillet over medium heat, allowing it to warm up for a few moments.
2
Add the onion to the skillet and cook, occasionally tossing it around, until it becomes soft and translucent, roughly 3 to 5 minutes have passed.
3
Next, incorporate the garlic, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, cumin, coriander, salt, cayenne, and turmeric into the pan. Cook for 1 minute over medium heat, constantly stirring to prevent burning.
4
Now, add the chickpeas and their accompanying liquid to the pan. Continue cooking and stirring until everything is well combined and heated through, about 5 minutes more.
5
Remove the skillet from the heat source.
6
Finally, stir in the cilantro just before serving and reserve 1 tablespoon for garnish purposes.
