Ingredients
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt, or to taste
- 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces
- 2 onions, quartered
- 1 (8 ounce) package fresh chopped mushrooms
- 1 green bell pepper, cut into large chunks
Instructions
1
Combine the oil, soy sauce, light corn syrup, lemon juice, sesame seeds, garlic powder, and garlic salt in a medium-sized bowl. Stir until all the ingredients are fully incorporated. Add the chicken and mix well to coat it evenly. Cover the bowl with a lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
2
Heat up an outdoor grill to medium heat and lightly grease the grill's surface with oil.
3
Thread chicken onto skewers, alternating them with sliced onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers. Place the skewered chicken on a plate and set it aside.
4
Pour the marinade into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil. Allow it to simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until it has thickened slightly.
5
Place the skewers on the preheated grill and cook, turning them frequently, until the chicken is no longer pink and the juices run clear. This should take around 15-20 minutes. During the last 10 minutes, baste the skewers with the boiled marinade frequently. To ensure the chicken is cooked properly, insert an instant-read thermometer into its center and verify that it reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
