Easy Cream Biscuits
Ingredients
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted, or as needed
Instructions
1
Place the oven rack in its lowest position; heat the oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit (260 degrees Celsius). Cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
2
Mix self-rising flour and sugar in a mixing bowl; blend the ingredients together until they form a cohesive mixture, incorporating cream to achieve this consistency. Transfer the dough onto a well-coated work surface and shape it into a rectangular form, approximately 1/2 inch thick. Utilize a bench scraper to lift the edges of the dough and fold it into thirds, repeating this process. Roll out the dough to a 6x10-inch rectangle of about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out circular shapes from the dough using a 3-inch biscuit cutter. Reunite any stray dough fragments into a cohesive disk, then roll it out to 1/2 inch thickness and cut three more biscuits. If any remaining dough exists, gently flatten it before cutting one final biscuit.
3
Arrange the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet. Apply a generous amount of melted butter to the tops of the biscuits.
4
Bake in the preheated oven until the biscuits are golden brown, taking 10 to 12 minutes. Brush the hot biscuits with melted butter once more and allow them to cool for 2 to 3 minutes before serving.
