Ingredients
- 2 cups durum wheat flour
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1
Combine flour, water, oil, and salt in a medium-sized bowl and mix until they are fully incorporated and the mixture is no longer sticking to the sides of the bowl. Transfer the dough onto a surface that has been dusted with flour and knead until it becomes smooth and easy to shape, taking around 10 minutes.
2
Split the dough into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball, working on one at a time while the others are covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying out. Use your hand to flatten the ball into a disk, then use a rolling pin to roll it out into a circle with a diameter of 6-8 inches.
3
Heat a dry skillet or tava over medium-high heat. Cook one roti at a time in the hot skillet until it is golden brown with some darker spots, taking about 1 minute per side. As you cook each roti, prepare the next one by rolling it out. Serve the warm rotis immediately.
