Deluxe Tetrazzini Casserole
Ingredients
  • 1 (16 ounce) package linguine pasta
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 cup minced onion
  • 1 cup minced green bell pepper
  • 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 (10 ounce) package frozen green peas
  • 1/2 cup cooking sherry
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 cups chopped cooked chicken breast
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • paprika to taste
Instructions
1
Boil a substantial quantity of salted water in a large vessel until it reaches a rolling boil. Introduce pasta into the boiling water and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until it reaches a satisfying firmness; remove from the water and set aside for further use.
2
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). During this time, melt butter in a large cooking vessel over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms, chopped onion and diced bell pepper to the pan and cook until they become tender. Stir in a can of cream of mushroom soup and chicken broth; continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is heated through. Stir in cooked pasta, shredded Cheddar cheese, frozen peas, sherry wine, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper to taste, and diced cooked chicken. Combine the ingredients thoroughly and transfer the mixture to a lightly oiled 11x14 inch baking dish. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese and paprika over the top of the mixture.
3
Bake the prepared dish in the preheated oven for 25 to 35 minutes, or until it reaches a heated and satisfying consistency.
