Ingredients
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups quick cooking oats
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, melted
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts

Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 200 degrees Celsius.

To prevent sticking, generously coat an 8 or 9 inch square baking dish with a generous amount of oil.

In a large mixing container, combine vegetable oil and rolled oats in a thorough mixture.

Combine brown sugar, corn syrup, salt, and vanilla extract to create a rich blend.

Press the entire mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Bake the mixture in your preheated oven for 12 minutes.

Once done, set it aside to cool down completely.

Cut the cooled mixture into 4 large squares.

Carefully remove each square from the baking dish, taking note of any nuts that may have been sprinkled on top.

Cover each square with a generous amount of melted chocolate, if desired.

Allow the chocolate to cool and harden before cutting each square into 9 equal pieces.
