  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups boiling water

Begin by heating your oven to the desired temperature of 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). At the same time, place a block of butter into an 8-inch square baking dish and position it in the oven to soften and melt alongside the heating process.

In a separate bowl, combine 3/4 cup of flour, 1 1/2 tablespoons of sugar, and the same amount of cocoa powder. Whisk in milk and vanilla extract until a smooth consistency is achieved.

In another small bowl, mix together the remaining 1 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of cocoa powder until well combined.

Remove the baking dish from the oven and carefully pour the flour-sugar mixture over the melted butter, followed by sprinkling the sugar-cocoa mixture evenly over the top. Gradually pour boiling water over everything in a slow and controlled manner.
