Dark Chocolate Swirl Pound Cake
Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 6 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 325 degrees Fahrenheit (or 165 degrees Celsius).
2
Next, take a 10-inch tube pan and lightly coat it with butter or cooking spray to prevent the cake from sticking, then dust it with flour for an even smoother release.
3
Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, cream together the butter and cream cheese in a large mixing bowl until they are fully incorporated.
4
Add granulated sugar to the mixture and continue beating with the mixer until it becomes light, fluffy, and airy, taking around 3-4 minutes to achieve the desired consistency.
5
Mix in the almond extract, vanilla extract, salt, and baking powder into the creamed mixture until well combined.
6
Beat in 2 eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next.
7
Gradually add 1 cup of flour to the mixture, stirring until it's well combined.
8
Add an additional 2 eggs and mix until the batter is smooth.
9
Mix in the remaining 1 cup of flour, stirring until the batter reaches a smooth consistency.
10
Separate half of the plain cake batter and place it in a separate bowl.
11
Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder to the plain batter and stir until well combined.
12
Pour half of the prepared pan with the plain cake batter, followed by half of the chocolate batter.
13
Use a knife to gently swirl the batters together, creating a marbled effect.
14
Repeat the process with the remaining plain cake batter and chocolate batter, swirling gently to create a marbled effect.
15
Place the prepared pan in the middle rack of your preheated oven and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, approximately 90 minutes.
