Ingredients
- 8 eggs
- 1 quart buttermilk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cardamom
- 2 cups vegetable shortening, melted
Instructions
1
Heat the electric aebleskiver pan to the recommended temperature as indicated on its manufacturer's guidelines.
2
Combine eggs, buttermilk, and softened butter in a bowl until they are well mixed.
3
Mix flour, salt, sugar, baking soda, and ground cardamom into the egg mixture until it is well combined.
4
Add 1 tablespoon of shortening to each cup in the preheated aebleskiver pan and let it warm up.
5
Pour 3/4 of the batter into each cup, leaving a small space at the top.
6
Allow the bottom layer to cook for 3-4 minutes or until it turns golden brown.
7
Carefully lift one edge of the cup with a long skewer or knitting needle and rotate it by 1/4.
8
The uncooked batter will flow into the cup, allowing for further cooking.
9
Continue rotating and lifting the edges until the entire batter is cooked into a golden brown ball.
10
Transfer the cooked aebleskivers to paper towels for draining.
