Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon meat tenderizer
- 1 tablespoon seasoning salt
- 2 pounds rib-eye steak, 1/4 inch thick
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 (12 ounce) bottle beer
- 1 1/4 cups fresh lime juice
Instructions
1
Combine the garlic powder, onion powder, meat tenderizer, and seasoning salt in a small bowl.
2
Apply the seasoned mixture evenly to both sides of the steaks, ensuring they are well-coated.
3
Layer 1/4 of the sliced onions in the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan, followed by the steaks placed horizontally across the onions. Add another layer of sliced onions on top, then pour 1/4 cup of lime juice and 1/4 of the bottle's contents over the steaks. Repeat this process until all the steaks have been used, finishing with a layer of lime juice and beer on top. Cover and refrigerate for 30 to 40 minutes.
4
To prevent over-marinating, do not leave the steaks in the marinade for more than an hour. The acid from the lime juice will start to cook the meat, resulting in a less desirable texture.
5
Preheat your outdoor grill to medium-high heat and lightly brush the grate with oil.
6
Transfer the steaks to the grill, discarding the marinade in the process.
7
Grill the steaks until they reach your desired level of doneness, approximately 2 minutes per side for well-done.
8
Once cooked to your liking, remove the steaks from the grill and allow them to rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with warm tortillas.
