  • 35 soda crackers
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup blanched slivered almonds

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, covering one side to prevent spills. Arrange crackers on the covered side of the baking sheet.

Melt butter and brown sugar together in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly as the mixture reaches its boiling point and remains so for 3 minutes. Pour the sugar mixture evenly over the crackers.

Bake the crackers in a preheated oven for 5 to 6 minutes, keeping an eye on them. Once done, remove the baking sheet from the oven and place it on the oven door to prevent breakage. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the baked crackers.

Allow the chocolate to soften, then use the back of a spoon to spread it evenly over the crackers. Sprinkle slivered almonds over the melted chocolate.

Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours to allow the flavors to meld together. Break the crackers into cookie-sized pieces once set. This recipe freezes well for future use.
