  • 1/2 cup all-purpose baking mix (such as Bisquick®)
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 pinch garlic and herb seasoning, or more to taste
  • 1/3 cup oil for frying, or as needed

Combine the finely chopped squash, dry baking powder blend, milk, egg, Parmesan cheese, melted butter, salt, pepper, and aromatic garlic-herb spice mixture in a spacious mixing container.

Heat the oil in a substantial frying pan over an intermediate heat setting. Place spoonfuls of the batter mixture into the hot oil, leaving a small gap between each portion. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes; flip and continue cooking until the batter is golden brown on the other side. Remove excess oil by placing the cooked batter on a paper towel-lined platter. Continue preparing the remaining batter, replenishing the oil in the skillet as necessary.
