Crispy Spicy Beef with Veggies
Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 tablespoon salt
  • black pepper
  • 12 ounces flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 quart oil for frying
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tablespoon rice wine
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons honey
  • 7 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon chile paste
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh ginger root
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/4 cup sliced onion
  • 1/4 cup diced red bell pepper
Instructions
1
Preheat the deep fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). At the same time, prepare a bowl by combining cornstarch, salt and pepper in it. Thoroughly blend the ingredients to create a uniform mixture.
2
Next, coat the steak slices evenly with the cornstarch mixture. Ensure they are well-coated on all sides.
3
Fry the coated steak slices in hot oil until they turn golden brown. Verify that they are cooked through by checking their internal temperature.
4
Remove the fried steak slices from the oil and set them aside to cool down.
5
In another bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, rice wine and honey. Add sugar, chili paste, water and ginger to the mixture. Blend everything together until it forms a smooth sauce.
6
Heat a wok or deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of oil to the pan and quickly sauté the onion, garlic and red pepper for 30 seconds. Add the prepared sauce mixture to the pan and cook for another 30 seconds. Finally, add the strips of fried steak to the pan and toss everything together until the steak is heated through and coated with the sauce.
