- 1 pound calamari rings
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

In another shallow dish, combine panko breadcrumbs, a pinch of black pepper, and a light sprinkle of salt.

Dip the calamari pieces in flour, gently shaking off any excess coating. Next, dip them in the egg mixture, followed by a second coating of panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

Transfer the coated calamari pieces to a plate and refrigerate for 20 minutes, allowing the breading to set.

Heat oil in a saucepan or deep fryer over medium-high heat, until it reaches the optimal temperature.
