Ingredients
- 3/4 pound ground pork
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
- 8 canned water chestnuts, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon Kikkoman Soy Sauce
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger root
- 1 (16 ounce) package wonton skins
- 1 quart oil for frying
Instructions
1
Combine the pork, green onions, water chestnuts, soy sauce, cornstarch, salt, and ginger in a medium-sized bowl until everything is fully incorporated. Place 1/2 teaspoon of the pork mixture in the center of a wonton wrapper. Fold the wonton wrapper over the filling to form a triangle, then bring the top of the triangle down to meet the fold and flip it over. To seal the wonton, moisten one corner with a small amount of water and bring the opposite corner over it to overlap, pressing them together firmly. Repeat this process to create the remaining wontons.
2
Heat a generous amount of oil in a wok or large saucepan over medium-high heat until it reaches 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Fry a few wontons at a time in the hot oil until they are golden brown and crispy, typically taking 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the wontons from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels before serving warm.
