Crispy Pork Egg Rolls
Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger, or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder, or more to taste
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 2 ounces shredded carrots
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 quart peanut oil for frying, or as needed
  • 8 (7 inch square) egg roll wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
Instructions
1
Prepare the pork by sprinkling it with ginger and garlic powder in a large bowl, ensuring an even distribution of the seasonings.
2
Combine the pork with cabbage and carrots in a large bowl, stirring until the ingredients are harmoniously blended. Mix four and water together in a small bowl to create a smooth paste.
3
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, reaching temperatures of approximately 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
4
While the oil is warming up, assemble the egg rolls: Place an egg roll wrapper on a work surface with one corner pointing towards you, resembling a diamond shape. Fill the center of the wrapper with about 1/4 to 1/3 cup of the prepared filling.
5
Fold the bottom corner upwards and over the filling, followed by the left and right corners, which should be tucked in towards the center. Roll the egg roll away from you, pushing it towards the top corner.
6
Apply a thin layer of the flour paste to the inside of that corner, securing it in place and preventing leakage during frying.
7
Fry the egg rolls in the hot oil, gently turning them occasionally, until they reach a golden brown and crispy texture, taking around 5 to 8 minutes.
8
Remove the egg rolls from the oil and drain them on paper towels or a rack to prevent excess moisture.
9
Arrange the egg rolls on a serving plate and sprinkle sesame seeds over the top for added flavor.
