Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds beef top sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon dark sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon dark sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon peanut oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger root
- 1 tablespoon finely shredded orange zest
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
1
Combine the beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and baking soda in a bowl. Mix everything together until it's well combined, then cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 to 3 hours.
2
Heat a large amount of peanut oil in a wok or nonstick skillet over extremely high heat. Add garlic, ginger, orange zest, and red pepper flakes to the hot oil and cook until the garlic starts to turn golden brown, approximately 20 to 30 seconds.
3
Add the beef to the hot oil and cook, stirring constantly, until the beef starts to turn golden brown and crispy, around 5 minutes.
4
In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, orange juice concentrate, rice vinegar, sesame oil, brown sugar, and cornstarch.
5
Stir the sauce mixture into the beef and continue cooking until the sauce has thickened and turned a clear, transparent color, roughly 30 seconds.
