Crispy Green Banana Fries

  • 5 small unripe (green) bananas
  • 1 quart oil for frying, or as needed
  • salt to taste

Begin by carefully removing the outer layer of the bananas using a sharp knife, as they are not yet fully ripe and will be more challenging to peel. Cut the bananas into long, thin strips or 'fries' to create a crispy exterior.

Next, heat the oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pan or skillet over an elevated heat setting. If you have access to a deep-fryer, preheat the oil to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Gently place the banana fries into the hot oil, and cook until they turn a golden brown color, taking approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Remove the fries from the oil with a slotted spoon, and drain excess oil on paper towels. Use a clean cloth to gently pat away any remaining oil, before sprinkling with salt.
