Mingle the flour, baking powder, and salt in a spacious container.

Blend the warm water into the dry ingredients until they form a cohesive mass that is neither too sticky nor too loose.

Form the dough into twelve rounded balls, each approximately 3 inches in diameter. Flatten these balls into patties that are 1/2 inch thick, and create a small indentation in the center of each patty.

Cook the patties one at a time in 1-inch deep hot shortening until they turn golden brown, flipping them over every 1 to 2 minutes. Remove the cooked patties from the shortening and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
