Crispy Fried Onions
Ingredients
  • 3 large onions, sliced into thin rings
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch garlic powder, or to taste
  • 1 pinch onion powder, or to taste
  • 1 pinch ground white pepper, or to taste
  • salt to taste
  • vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
1
Soak the onions in milk for 5 minutes, allowing them to rehydrate and become soft.
2
Combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, white pepper, and salt in a bowl to create a dry mixture. Add the onions one handful at a time, gently tossing them in the flour mixture to coat evenly.
3
Repeat this process with the remaining onions, working in batches to ensure they are all coated properly.
4
Heat oil in a large skillet or deep fryer over medium heat to allow it to warm up. Fry the onions in batches, stirring constantly as they cook, until they are evenly browned and crispy, taking about 2 to 3 minutes per batch. Remove the onions from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil. Season the onions with additional salt to taste, then store them in an airtight container for later use.
