Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 egg whites
- 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the optimal temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit (or 190 degrees Celsius, if you prefer metric).
2
Next, lightly coat two baking sheets with a thin layer of cooking spray to prevent the wafers from sticking.
3
In a large mixing bowl, combine softened butter, granulated sugar, and a hint of vanilla extract using an electric mixer until you achieve a smooth consistency.
4
Gradually add egg whites, one at a time, allowing each to fully incorporate into the butter mixture before proceeding with the next addition.
5
Mix in flour until just combined, being careful not to overdo it.
6
Using a spoon or small ice cream scoop, drop small amounts of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
7
Using a spatula or the back of a spoon, gently spread each dough portion into thin circles with a diameter of approximately 3 inches.
8
Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven and bake until the wafers are golden brown along the edges, approximately 5 minutes.
9
Remove each baked wafer from the baking sheet using a spatula or kitchen turner, and then roll it around the handle of a wooden spoon to create an overlapping edge.
10
Allow each wafer to cool completely on a wire rack, with the seam side facing downwards, until it reaches a crispy state.
