Crispy Chicken Katsu
Ingredients
  • 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - pounded to 1/2 inch thickness
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 cup oil for frying, or as needed
Instructions
1
Dust chicken breasts with salt and pepper, ensuring an even coating on both sides. Prepare three shallow dishes: one for flour, another for beaten egg, and the third for panko crumbs.
2
Coat chicken breasts first in flour, gently shaking off any excess; then dip into the beaten egg, making sure to cover all surfaces; finally, press the chicken into the panko crumbs until it is thoroughly coated on both sides.
3
Heat a generous amount of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, creating a sizzling surface. Gently place the coated chicken breasts in the hot oil and fry until they are golden brown, taking approximately 3 or 4 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess moisture.
