- 6 cups cabbage, cut into thin wedges
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 pinch white sugar
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon cider vinegar

Begin by placing the bacon slices into a substantial, deep frying pan. Heat it over high-medium temperatures until the bacon is uniformly browned. Take out the cooked bacon and put it aside for now.

Next, add the onion to the still-warm bacon fat in the pan. Continue cooking it until the onion becomes soft and translucent. Add the shredded cabbage to the pan, stirring in a moderate amount of water, sugar, salt, and pepper. Allow the cabbage to soften and release its juices, taking around 15 minutes to achieve this. Then, add the previously set-aside cooked bacon back into the pan and stir it in gently. Finish off the dish by adding a small splash of vinegar before serving it hot
