  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

Begin by placing the egg into a shallow dish and whisk it gently to break it down. Next, incorporate the sliced okra into the egg mixture by stirring it in thoroughly.

Combine the cornmeal and flour in a large, gallon-size resealable plastic bag. Subsequently, add 5 slices of okra to the cornmeal mixture and seal the bag. Shake the contents vigorously to ensure an even distribution of the okra within the cornmeal mixture. Remove the breaded okra to a plate and repeat this process with the remaining okra slices.

Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Once heated, place half of the breaded okra slices in the basket of your air fryer. Spray these slices with cooking spray to facilitate even browning. Cook the okra for 4 minutes, then remove it from the air fryer and give the basket a gentle shake to redistribute the okra. Mist the okra with cooking spray once more and return it to the air fryer for an additional 4 minutes. Finally, perform a final shake of the basket and cook the okra for an additional 2 minutes. Remove the cooked okra from the air fryer and season with salt to taste.
