Ingredients
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon seafood seasoning (such as Old Bay®)
- 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped green onion
- 1 pound lump crabmeat, drained and picked over
- 3 tablespoons milk
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 11 saltine crackers, crushed
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 4 wedges lemon
- olive oil cooking spray
Instructions
1
Collect all necessary components for the dish.
2
Combine egg, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, seafood seasoning, and hot pepper sauce in a large container. Mix well the green onion into the mixture and set it aside for later use.
3
Separate the crabmeat into a medium-sized bowl and employ a fork to break it up. Add milk, salt, and black pepper; thoroughly coat the crabmeat with these ingredients. Incorporate saltine crackers and baking powder into the mixture; gently combine them to avoid breaking apart the crab lumps.
4
Gradually add the prepared crabmeat mixture into the egg mixture, stirring it gently to avoid disintegrating the lumps. Divide the mixture into 8 portions and shape each portion into a patty.
5
Place the patties on a plate, cover them with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, and refrigerate until they become firm, allowing for a time span of 1 to 8 hours.
6
Preheat the air fryer oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
7
Spray both sides of the crab cakes with cooking spray and position them in the air fryer basket.
8
Cook the crab cakes for 5 minutes. Carefully flip them over and continue cooking until they are crispy brown, taking about an additional 5 minutes.
