Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Drumsticks with Cornflake Crust
Ingredients
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 cup cornflake crumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 6 large chicken drumsticks
  • salt to taste
  • nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
1
Combine egg and water in a shallow bowl, whisking them together until well incorporated. In another shallow dish, blend cornflake crumbs with garlic powder, onion powder, a pinch of salt, Cajun seasoning, chili powder, and paprika to create a flavorful coating.
2
Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C), ensuring it reaches the optimal temperature. Sprinkle a light coating of salt onto both sides of the drumsticks, taking care not to overdo it. Dip each drumstick into the egg mixture, followed by a generous coating of the cornflake mixture, gently pressing down to ensure all surfaces are evenly coated.
3
Spray a light layer of cooking spray onto the top of each drumstick, placing them sprayed-side down into the air fryer basket. If necessary, position the drumsticks on their side to accommodate their size. Air-fry for 10 minutes and carefully flip them over, taking care not to burn yourself.
4
Lower the air fryer temperature to 325 degrees F (160 degrees C) and continue cooking for an additional 10 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches a minimum of 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). Monitor the drumsticks' doneness after 5 minutes, as their size will dictate the cooking time.
