Ingredients
- 1 (14 ounce) package extra-firm tofu
- 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
- 1 1/2 cups panko bread crumbs
- 1 green onion, chopped
Instructions
1
Begin by placing the tofu on a plate that has been lined with multiple paper towels for effective draining. Cover the tofu completely with additional paper towels and a second plate, then place a heavy object weighing 3 to 5 pounds on top. Allow the tofu to press for 30 minutes, after which drain off any excess liquid that may have accumulated. Cut the tofu into uniform cubes measuring 1/2 inch in size.
2
Next, place the cubed tofu into a large bowl and lightly drizzle it with sesame oil. Gently stir the mixture to combine, then let it sit for 20 minutes.
3
While the tofu is resting, prepare the bang bang sauce by whisking together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and Sriracha sauce in a medium-sized bowl until the mixture is smooth. Set aside a separate container for bread crumbs.
4
Heat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Combine the tofu with 1/2 cup of bang bang sauce and mix until it is evenly coated. Coat the tofu in bread crumbs, taking care not to overcrowd the air fryer basket. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook the tofu in batches.
5
Cook the breaded tofu in the preheated air fryer for 5 minutes, then shake the basket and cook for an additional 3 minutes. Remove the tofu from the air fryer and garnish it with green onion, serving it alongside the remaining bang bang sauce.
