Creamy Red Potatoes Gratin
Ingredients
  • 8 large red potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of broccoli soup
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of celery soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the optimal temperature for baking, which is 350 degrees F (or equivalently, 175 degrees C).
2
To begin preparing the dish, grease a large baking container with butter. This will help prevent the potatoes from sticking to the pan during cooking.
3
Next, wash and peel several potatoes, leaving only a small portion of their skin intact. Then, slice the potatoes into thin pieces, about 1/8 inch in thickness.
4
Arrange the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish.
5
Meanwhile, melt butter in a large cooking vessel over medium-high heat. Cook sliced onions and minced garlic in the melted butter until they become soft and translucent, taking around 7 to 10 minutes. Stir in broccoli soup, celery soup, milk, salt, and pepper; then add approximately half of the Cheddar cheese. Continue cooking until the cheese has fully melted.
6
Pour the cheese mixture over the potatoes in the baking dish, followed by a generous helping of the remaining Cheddar cheese. Cover the dish with aluminum foil or a lid to prevent excessive browning during baking.
7
Bake the potatoes in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until they are tender. Remove the cover and continue cooking until the cheese on top begins to brown, taking about 10 minutes more.
