Ingredients
- 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of chicken soup
- 3 cups water
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 2 onions, quartered
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
- 5 carrots, sliced
- 1 (10 ounce) package frozen green peas
- 4 potatoes, quartered
- 3 cups baking mix
- 1 1/3 cups milk
Instructions
1
Combine the soup with water, along with chicken, celery, onion, salt, poultry seasoning, and pepper in a large, heavy pot. Bring the mixture to a simmer over low heat for 1 ½ hours.
2
Add diced potatoes and carrots; continue cooking, covered, for another 30 minutes.
3
Take the chicken out of the pot and shred it into bite-sized pieces, then return it to the pot. Add frozen peas and cook for just a few minutes longer, approximately 5-6 minutes.
4
Add the dumplings to the stew. To make the dumplings, combine baking mix and milk in a bowl until you get a soft dough. Use this dough to drop spoonfuls onto the boiling stew. Simmer covered for 10 minutes, then remove the lid and continue to simmer for another 10 minutes.
