Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 (8 ounce) package white mushrooms, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, thinly sliced
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 3 cups cubed leftover cooked turkey
- 1 cup peas
- 1/2 (8 ounce) package egg noodles, or more to taste
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
Instructions
1
Begin by melting 3 tablespoons of butter in a substantial skillet over medium heat. Introduce the mushrooms, onion, and celery into the skillet and cook until they are tender and soft, taking around 5 to 10 minutes.
2
Next, sprinkle a generous amount of flour over the mushroom mixture and stir it in thoroughly to coat everything evenly.
3
Then, combine milk, cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and nutmeg in a bowl and mix it into the mushroom mixture. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the cream cheese is fully melted and the sauce is warmed up to a comfortable temperature, taking around 5 to 10 minutes.
4
Add the turkey and peas to the sauce mixture, stirring it in well.
5
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set it aside for later use.
6
Next, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noodles in it, stirring occasionally until they are cooked through but still retain some firmness, taking about 5 minutes. Drain the noodles and mix them into the turkey mixture.
7
Melt and cool the remaining 3 tablespoons of butter. Add Parmesan cheese and bread crumbs to it, stirring until everything is well combined and crumbly.
8
Sprinkle the butter mixture over the noodle mixture in the prepared baking dish.
9
Bake the dish in the preheated oven until the top is nicely browned and the sauce is bubbling, taking around 30 minutes.
