Ingredients
- 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 (12 ounce) package fresh cranberries
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1 dash ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons butter
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius).
2
In a saucepan, blend together sugar, flour, salt and water. Heat the mixture over high heat, stirring constantly until it reaches a thick, smooth consistency. Introduce berries, lemon juice and cinnamon into the mixture. Continue to cook for 5 minutes until the desired consistency is achieved, with berries bursting at the surface.
3
Remove from heat and incorporate butter into the mixture.
4
Create a dough ball and flatten it to fit a 9 inch pie plate. Place the bottom crust into the prepared pie plate, followed by the filling. Roll out the remaining dough to form a top crust and cut it into strips for a lattice design. Arrange the lattice strips on top of the filling, ensuring they are sealed at the edges.
5
Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
