Ingredients
- 8 fresh morels - trimmed, washed, and dried
- butter-flavored cooking spray
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped red bell pepper
- 1 tablespoon thinly sliced green onion, including green part
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 (6 ounce) can lump crabmeat
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped celery leaves
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 dashes hot sauce, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a medium-high temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
2
Next, take some cooking spray and lightly coat a 9x13-inch baking dish to prevent any food from sticking.
3
Mince the white parts of the mushroom stems and cut the caps in half lengthwise; place them cap-side up into your prepared baking dish.
4
In a small pan over medium heat, melt some butter and then add the minced mushroom stems, sliced red bell pepper, and chopped green onion. Cook and stir constantly until the green onion becomes translucent, taking around 5 minutes to achieve this. Remove from heat and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
5
In a large bowl, combine softened cream cheese, flaked crabmeat, chopped celery leaves, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and a pinch of sea salt. Mix everything together until it's smooth. Then, fold in the cooled onion mixture you prepared earlier.
6
Take a spoon and place a small amount of crabmeat filling into each mushroom cap.
7
In another bowl, mix together some bread crumbs and grated Parmesan cheese until they're well combined.
8
Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the filled mushroom caps.
9
Finally, place your baking dish in the preheated oven and bake until the filling is golden brown, taking around 30 to 35 minutes.
