Ingredients
- 4 (6.5 ounce) packages dry corn bread mix
- 6 cups dry bread crumbs
- 1 pound sausage
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 2 cups chopped onion
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1/3 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 3 cups chopped celery
- 2/3 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 2 tablespoons poultry seasoning
- 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 8 cups chicken broth
- 2 eggs, beaten
Instructions
1
Begin by following the package instructions to prepare the cornbread, as directed on the packaging.
2
Then, take the cooled cornbread and break it into smaller pieces in a large bowl. Mix well.
3
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), ensuring it reaches the correct temperature before proceeding.
4
In a large cooking vessel, heat some margarine over medium heat and sauté the sausage until it's browned. Add the onion, garlic, green bell pepper, and celery to the pot and continue cooking until all the vegetables are tender.
5
Next, add some fresh parsley, poultry seasoning, sage, and salt to the pot mixture. Stir everything together.
6
In a separate container, whisk together some broth, eggs, and the cornbread/breadcrumbs until they form a cohesive mixture. Pour this mixture into the pot with the sausage and vegetables.
7
Transfer the entire mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish, making sure it's evenly distributed.
8
Cover the dish with a lid and bake in a preheated 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven for 30 minutes, allowing the cornbread stuffing to cook thoroughly.
