Ingredients
- 12 leaves cabbage
- 1 pound extra-lean ground beef
- 1 cup cooked white rice
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup minced onion
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/4 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
1
Heat a substantial quantity of water in a large vessel until it reaches its boiling point. Blanch cabbage leaves for 2 minutes; discard the water and reserve the leaves.
2
In a large container, merge ground beef, cooked rice, egg, milk, onion, salt, and pepper to create a cohesive mixture. Distribute approximately 2 tablespoons of the mixture onto each cabbage leaf.
3
Fold one end of the cabbage leaf over the filling, rolling and tucking in the edges to secure the contents; arrange the rolls in a single layer within the slow cooker.
4
Blend tomato sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl until they are harmoniously combined. Pour the mixture over the cabbage rolls.
5
Seal and cook on Low for 8 to 9 hours.
